Narrative Learning Framework™

Helping learners understand the stories that shape their world — and empowering them to create better ones.

What is the Framework?

The Narrative Learning Framework™ is an educational framework designed to help learners explore how narratives are formed, reinforced and transformed.

It brings together storytelling, inquiry, critical thinking, identity, belonging and action to create learning experiences where students do not simply consume knowledge — they investigate, question and reshape meaning.

Why ‘Narrative’?

Narratives shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us.

Every learner encounters stories — from family, culture, media, peers, institutions and digital platforms. These stories influence:

  • what we believe is possible for ourselves
  • how we perceive others
  • who we include and exclude
  • the choices we make and the actions we take

The Narrative Learning Framework™ recognises that education is not only about transferring knowledge. It is about helping learners examine, question and reshape the narratives that influence identity, belonging and possibility.

Narratives shape identity

The stories we encounter influence how we see ourselves and what we believe we can become.

Narratives shape relationships

The stories we accept about others influence belonging, empathy and social cohesion.

Narratives shape action

The narratives people internalise influence decisions, behaviours and communities.
